सूरदासो महात्मा तद्दर्शनानन्दमोहितः |
गायन् कृष्णस्य नामानि ननर्त प्रेमतत्परः ||
सान्त्वयामास गोविन्दस्तं भक्तं प्रेमलालसम् |
दातुमिच्छन् वरं तस्मै चोदयामास तं हरिः ||
किन्तु प्रेमपरो भक्तः प्रोवाच मधुरं वचः |
मूर्ध्नि बद्धाञ्जलिपुटो बाष्पपूरितलोचनः ||
The mahatma Surdas was intoxicated with the ecstacy born out of the darshan of Shri Krishna. He started chanting melodiously His Divine Names and dancing. Shri Govinda pacified that prema bhakta, and induces him to ask for any boon he wanted. But as prem was the only passion with him, Surdas, the bhakta, uttered the following sweet words with hands folded over his head and tears of joy rolling from his eyes.
