At that time he heard a very melodious music played on the flute reaching him from within the temple. Surprised Vyasadasa rushed into the temple. He saw there Shri Krishna holding the flute in His hand and playing on it so melodiously. Seeing that Shri Krishna had Himself taken that precious stone-studded flute in His hand Vyasadasa was perturbed greatly by the intensity of loving devotion. Thus having his desire fulfilled he worshipped and prayed to Lord Madhava, the Bhaktavatsala and the Rasikendra (the head of the rasikas).

Vyasadasa became dissapointed as he could not dorn the hand of Shri Krishna with that flute and hence he placed it at the feet of Him with reverence. Deep in sorrow, Vyasadasa was sitting under a mandara tree outside the temple.

Shri Vyasadasa who relished the Archavataras was serving Shri Krishna and Radha in many ways. Daily he was performing pooja to his moorti of Shri Krishna. His Krishna was having a charming countenance, lotus eyes, an exquisite form with three enchanting curves, broad chest, long and strong arms, legs crossed in a standing posture and lips like the petals of a flower with sweet smile as the honey dropping down. His form was so handsome as to excel a crore of Manmathas in beauty and grace.

Shri Krishna, the repository of mercy, though being the overlord of the entire creation confines Himself into the Archavatara and graciously accepts all that is offered by the bhaktas

Shri Vyasadasa Charitam II. Vol II Book VI Chp 3 Shloka 8

Those bhaktas who have realized the quintessence of loving devotion, with the help of their unflinching faith bring into their fold Shri Govinda, who displays His divine pastimes through Archavataras.

Vaishnava Samhita. Shri Vyasadasa Charitam II. Vol II Book VI Chp 3 Shlokas 6 - 7

अपेक्षते कृपासिन्धुर्भक्तभावकुतूहलः  ||

The compassionate Shri Krishna is so merciful that He merely conducts Himself in accordance with the temperaments (Manobhava) of the bhaktas. He does not relish deeksha or upadesha or mantras or ritualistic practices. Shri Krishna who is worshiped with loving devotion by the prema bhaktas who are great rasikas, displays divine pastimes suited to their moods.

Vaishnava Samhita. Shri Vyasadasa Charitam II. Vol II Book VI Chp 3 Shlokas 4 - 5

Showering mercy on the bhaktas is His only aim. He forgives all sorts of blunders and never rebukes or curses anybody. Shri Madhava does not take delight in showy poojas. He accepts with delight only the pooja performed with true affection and devotion.

Vaishnava Samhita. Shri Vyasadasa Charitam II. Vol II Book VI Chp 3 Shlokas 2 - 3

Hence Shri Govinda dislikes hard and cumbersome sadhanas (efforts to reach God). He gets pleased with pure love and devotion only. Shri Krishna, the repository of compassion showers mercy on all without debating about their worth or merit.

Having spoken thus Shri Vyasadeva prostrated before that brahmana with great reverence. The brahmana was surprised to see that noble devotee Vyasadeva who was endowed with humility and forebearance and had loving devotion to Shri Krishna as the only object of his life. Those engaged in mundane worldly affairs or in Vedic rituals, cannot know fully the hearts of the great men endowed with virtues,

Thus ends Chapter Two entitled 'Shri Vyasadasa Charitam I' of Book VI of Shri Vyasadasa Charitam I' of Book VI of Shri Vaishnava Samhita composed by Shri Shri Krishna Premi Swamigal.

The brahmana said

Developing devotion for Lord Hari against all rules of dharma and Vedic rituals is fruitless. Shri Bhagavan will never be pleased with it.

Vyasadasa said

I have no knowledge of earthly practices, nor do I have any idea of Vedic rituals. I have the knowledge of loving devotion to Shri RadhaKrishna alone. I am not worried as to whether my bhakti is fruitful or not. Also I am not concerned about any other benefit that accrues due to my service to Shri Radha and Krishna. Having obtained the coveted service of Shri Radha and Krishna my life has become meaningful. Oh, distinguished brahmana! I am simply mad with the intoxication born of the power of prem. I have derived, great pleasure and comfort out of Krishna bhakti. I wish to have the same in each of my successive births. Please bless me so.

Vyasadasa said

My sacred thread became invaluable today. My birth as a brahmana became meaningful today. Vaishnavas like me should wear the sacred thread for this purpose only. Sadhus who have drowned deep into the exhilarating ocean of Shri Krishna's pastimes find no time to perform earthly and the Vedic rituals. What benefit do I get in wearing this sacred thread? I have given up the day-to-day ritualistic routine and all other religious rites. I stand beyond the Vedic rules and obligations of worldly life.

The brahmana asked

Being a brahmana how did you dare do this great sin of cutting off your sacred thread to tie this anklet ?

Vaishnava Samhita. Shri Vyasadasa Charitam I. Vol II Book VI Chp 2 Shlokas 21 - 23

When Shri Radha was thus engaged in this loving dance, forgetting the entire universe, Her anklet broke and fell down with a melodious sound. Seeing that the most fortunate Vyasadeva cut off his sacred thread and tied the anklet. Looing at this, the great vaishnavas, who were great rasikas made happy exclamations.
