Thus pondering on His mercy again and again Shri Narasimha Mehta fainted. His wife consoled him repeatedly emphasizing the glory of the Lord the benefactor of the bhaktas. It is clear that the Lord who is the reservoir of compassion and the benefactor of the bhaktas always takes worldly restrictions and Vedic values.

Only you are really fortunate. For you have seen Shri Krishna face to face. The most compassionate Bhagavan Himself has performed the shraddha of my father. I am roaming about this earth in the disguise of a bhakta. But I do not possess the necessary qualities. Yet Shri Krishna, the beloved of the bhaktas has showered so much mercy on me.

Listening to these words of his beloved wife, Shri Narasimha Mehta had a revelation of the divine pastimes. Hairs standing on end he started chanting the Divine Names of Shri Krishna and weeping loudly. Folding his hands above his head and shedding tears he looked at his wife and lamented.

His wife Manicka Devi replied

Why do you unnecessarily feel sad now ? Oh, wise man! You left for Brindavan only after finishing the shraddha systematically with the ghee bought from the bazaar. The memories of Shri Brindavan are still fresh in your mind and hence you are in a hallucination. Please console yourself. My Lord! How fortunate I am to be the wife of a great Krishna bhakta like you.

Alas! My beloved! The pitru shraddha was ignored by me, the wicked one. Intoxicated with loving devotion, I left for Shri Brindavan. Were those brahmanas invited by me well attended to? I feel very sad over the disrespect shown to the brahmanas. My heart is robbed by Shri Krishna who steals all hearts. That is why I am wandering as a mad man on this earth.

Narasimha Mehta returned home after a month. Recalling the past, he became very sad over his leaving to Shri Brindavan forgetting the shraddha. His wife became very happy to see him back home. She prostrated before Narasimha Mehta. Shri Narasimha Mehta addressed that chaste loving and virtous woman with a voice choked with emotions as follows:

Vaishnava Samhita. Narasimha Mehta Charitam III. Vol III Book VI Chp 17 Shlokas 18 - 20

Even the wife of Narasimha Mehta could not make out that He was the Supreme Being. Taking him to be her husband, she paid reverence to him. "Oh, beloved one! I am leaving for Shri Brindavan. All essential things are available at home. Don't go out of the house. I shall be back soon". The repository of mercy, Shri Krishna, thus pacified the bhakta's wife, showered affection on the children and vanished.

One day, the most distinguished bhakta, Narasimha Mehta came to the bazaar to buy ghee for his father's shraddha. In the bazaar Mehta saw some sadhus going towards Shri Brindavan engaged in Krishna Kirtan. At the very moment he forgot everything about the shraddha and the brahmanas invited for the ceremony. Shri Krishna, who takes care of the well-being of such noble ones, came in the disguise of Narasimha Mehta and completed performing shraddha. The pitrus who were blessed were thus honored by Shri Narayana Himself left the Pituloka and reached Shri Vaikuntha.

He received weal and woe alike. He treated mud and gold as same. He was neutral between appreciation and abuse. He considered the lot of all three worlds just equal to a blade of grass. He was oblivious to the family tradition and customs of his clan. He was always engaged in meditation on Shri Krishna. Along with his amicable wife he was rendering service to the bhagavatas. Lord Shri Krishna, the most compassionate, took complete charge of the welfare of His bhakta Narasimha Mehta who had forgotten the worldly practices and Vedic rites.

The devas, the pitrus, the rishis and the men,of the world adore that man with whom Shri Bhagavan, the Devadeva is fully satisfied. The great mahatma Narasimha Mehta was rid of the bonds of worldly and Vedic duties. Living at Junaghat he was always engaged in Krishna kirtan

Vaishnava Samhita. Narasimha Mehta Charitam III. Vol III Book VI Chp 17 Shloka 7

नराणां कृष्णभक्तानां ऋणशेषो न विद्यते  |
मुच्यन्ते लोकवेदाभ्यां कृष्णप्रेमपरायणाः ||

But the Krishna bhaktas do not owe anything to anyone. For, they get liberated from all bonds of dutiful actions as they have Krishna bhakti as their only object in life.

Vaishnava Samhita. Narasimha Mehta Charitam III. Vol III Book VI Chp 17 Shlokas 5 - 6

Man remains indebted to the devas, the rishis, the pitrus, to the fellowmen and the animals and other living beings as he receives help from all of them. Hence he should perform Pancha Yajna (the five rituals to satisfy them). He who does not perform the Pancha Yajna does not get redeemed of his debts. Hence he undergoes sufferings on this earth and suffers in the naraka after his death

Vaishnava Samhita. Narasimha Mehta Charitam III. Vol III Book VI Chp 17 Shlokas 3 - 4

But those who imagine themselves to be great vaishnavas and hence deliberately give up the Vedic rites are considered sinners only. Those bhaktas whose only abiding passion is loving devotion to Shri Krishna, get rid of the bonds of Vedic and worldly restrictions due to the mercy of Lord Krishna Himself.

Vaishnava Samhita. Narasimha Mehta Charitam III. Vol III Book VI Chp 17 Shlokas 1 - 2

Shri Sadguru said

Knowing the deep bhakti of the true bhakta which has crossed the boundaries of the code of worldly life and the rules of the Veda, Shri Bhagavan takes up the responsibility of discharging his mundane duties. All day-to-day activities get successfully done in the case of those bhaktas who get immersed in devotion to Krishna

In such inscrutable ways Shri Bhagavan causes the promise of the truthful bhaktas, come true. The vaishnavas never wish to utter a lie. They speak out at the instance of Bhagavan seated in their heart of hearts. Honest vaishnavas are guileless like a child. They express all their thoughts in words without hiding anything. So, one should not entertain any doubts against the sadhus. They are the living testimonials of truth and dharma.

Thus ends Chapter Sixteen entitled 'Narasimha Mehta Charitam II' of Book VI of Shri Vaishnava Samhita composed by Shri Shri Krishna Premi Swamigal

Vaishnava Samhita. Narasimha Mehta Charitam II. Vol III Book VI Chp 16 Shlokas 24 - 26

The vaishnavas approached Narasimha Mehta, engaged in Hari kirtan all their way. They narrated to him what had transpired. Narasimha Mehta listened to the narration and saw the document. Recalling the compassion of Shri Bhagavan he fainted. The Vaishnavas too realized that it was the leela of Shri Bhagavan. With great joy they consoled Narasimha Mehta.

Vaishava Samhita. Narasimha Mehta Charitam II. Vol III Book VI Chp 16 Shlokas 21 - 23

At the very moment, Lord Shyamasundara appeared in the beach (at Dwaraka) as the secretary of Mehta - names Shyamala. He gave darshan to those bhaktas in order to fulfil the promise of His devotee. He with a form that bestows untold bliss on those who look at Him, returned the money, due to them. Paying respects to those vaishnavas He vanished. The vaishnavas returned happily after receiving the document for the amount from the secretary and having the darshan of Lord Dwarakanatha.

He went to the place of his daughter's in-laws. He handed over the money to her mother-in-law, pacified her thus and returned home. Truthful as he was he became very sad to think that he had deceived the sadhus, the true external spiritual kinsmen and pleased the ephemeral relatives. He wept uncontrollably.

Vaishnava Samhita. Narasimha Mehta Charitam II. Vol III Book VI Chp 16 Shlokas 17 - 18

The sadhus arrived at Dwaraka. But they could not find Mehta's secretary there. Much worried they were sitting in the beach. After bidding farewell to those bhaktas Narasimha Mehta was sitting contemplating Lord Govinda. He was greatly perturbed.
